My favourite thing to do in summer is....

To have a swim at the beach or in the pool.

And have a ice cream or a nice fresh drink at the beach.

And a picnic under a tree.

pirate code

We have been learning how to do a pirate code we needed to get passed to some booms that were on the grid and the we had to get to the end without getting boomed.e

Telling the time

I have been learning about time. I can do my time in 

o'clock, half past. I am working on my quarter to and quarter past, 5 minutes and 1 minute intervals.

Vaseline Saucers maths

A few weeks ago we made Vaseline Saucers for Pets day.
We made them with flower petals of the rainbow.

I used the warm colours like red, yellow, pink and purples.

I like how the flower were also roses.

I did well with keeping my flower petals symmetrical.

Symmetrical means it is the same on both sides.

Christmas tree

In Team Awa we sketched a Christmas tree and this is how to do it.

1.  We sketched our Christmas tree 

2.  As we were drawing our trees we were thinking why it made us happy. 3.  We made a poem with our words from the sketch. 4. We cut out our Christmas tree then glued it on our poem.Here is my work. I hope you like it:

Art

This term we have completed two pieces of art.

One was inspired by an artist named Kadinsky who used coloured circles in his work. We looked at the contrast between warm and cool colours and the black and white of the buildings.

Our second piece was using the Maori words we have learnt and using these to create a visual picture. The words become the shape of the picture.

Some things I did well was straight lines with my building.

Some things I could improve on are warm and cold colours.

We have been learning to form our letters correctly and to use capital letters in the correct place.

I am good at making them correctly.                                 I need to get better at making them sit on the line.

Basic facts Term 3

We have been trying to get up to Stage 5.

All I need to work on is going faster. I'm good at 
times tables, pluses, takeaways and doubles and halves to twenty.

Save the world Thinglink

We have been learning about thinglink and we have been learning how to use it. This is what I know about helping to save the world from pollution and how to stop pollution in this world.

Kauri tree

Last week we were learning about Kauri trees. We did some art, this is what we did.

1. write your name on a piece of blank paper.

2. Dye the background with blue dye and wait for it to dry

3. Get a long piece of brown paper.

4. Finger print paint on the long brown trunk. The colours are brown, a little bit of purple, white, black.

5. wait till it drys.

6. Get little peaces of blank squares.

7.Get a yellow scrubber and dip it into yellow or green paint and dab it on to your squares.

8. wait till they dry.

9. stick you trunk onto your dyed paper.

10. rip any of the green and yellow coloured paper into little bits and glue them on to the blue dyed piece of paper.

11. Make it nice and big.

12. Write some slogans to stick onto your Kauri tree art. The slogans are to tell people what to do in a Kauri tree forest. 

My Goals

We use our goals to help us know what we have to learn in spelling,reading maths,writing,basic facts. 

We have been lesrning about Kauir die-back. We sketched a Kauri tree and wrote a poem about it. This is mine.

Matariki day

Hello
Today was Matariki day and we did paper plate stars. My one was white, rainbow and blue.
Here it is.

Garden to Table

Each week we do garden to table we are either in the kitchen cooking or else the garden we do planting,weeding, watering.  I like to learn how to cook .

 

Multiplication and Division

We have been working on understanding multiplication and division. We are learning to read word problems and answer them by showing our working and the answer we got.

Animal town

This week we have used another picture as motivation for our writing. We had a story starter and then
we had to carry on the story.

What I like about my writing is my capital letters.

I need to improve on some of my spelling.

Here is my writing about Animal Town.

One day I woke up and I went to tell my mum I was in the shed.  “Wake up the girls” said mum

“Ok.”

When we woke the girls up, we had breakfast and it was Weet-bix . I had 4 weet-bix and my sisters had 2.

Then we went for a ride on a plane.

When we were on the plane we ordered some food. When we were finished the food we went to sleep then the pilot called out Animal town and we all woke up and got off the plane.

We went to see the meerkats. When we got to their cage, we saw the meerkats they were so fluffy, fluffy as a teddy bear,  cloud, and I don't know, maybe just a meerkat. I just wanted to squeeze it.

The next animal was a lion. “ahhhhh!” I said the lion freaked me out.  It had a yellow beard, so fluffy.

The next animal we went and saw and I hoped it was a… KOALA THEY’RE MY FAVOURITE.

Hot air balloon

This week we have used a picture as motivation for our writing. We had a story starter and then we had to carry on the story. What I like about my writing is my writing because I feel like I am going in a real balloon. I need to improve on full stops.

One morning I woke up and ate breakfast as quick as I could because it was my big day. It was not Monday
or any ordinary day, it was my hot air balloon race day. The colours of my balloon were blue and green
blended in. I brought with me my whole family. I packed 3 chip packets, 6 water bottles and some kind of
dry food. When we got there someone shouted out, “it is time for the race to begin!” So we got ready.
“Ready, set, go!” We race to the sky first. When we got up there the clouds felt soft like a teddy bear.  
1 minute later we had some chips.

Then we talked, “Mum are we going to win?”

“Maybe, only if we do not give up.”

Later in the morning I felt quite sick. I also did not know how high I was in the sky.

Next morning I was looking around, someone else was in the lead. He shouted, “I'm in the lead.”
Next time we might win. “Yeah,” I shouted. “But we won't,” said mum, “if we don't stop them from getting
in front of us again.” Next night we were in the lead. “Yeah yeah yeah, we win!” The whole crowd shouted
for us. We went home and instead of putting our trophy that we got on the shelf, we had ice cream in it in
the hot air balloon.  

The Pou

As part of our writing programme we have been doing environmental writing. We had to sketch an object and as we were sketching we wrote down thoughts that we had. Then we wrote our thoughts down  as a poem. We cut out the sketch and added this to our writing.

ASB Get wise

On Wednesday we had Marlon from ASB Get wise talking to us about saving our money, spending money on needs not wants and using invisible money ie eftpos. I have made a google draw to show what I have learnt. I liked learning about how he was teaching us about money.
